5-Day Men-Tsee-Khang Wellness Camp: 101 Years of Health Service
A 5-Day Men-Tsee-Khang Wellness Camp themed as 101 Years of Health Service was held at East Nizamuddin, New-Delhi from 1-5 November, 2017.
A team led by Dr. Tsewang Tamdin, Visiting Physician to H.H. the Dalai Lama; along with 2 Astro-Science Practitioners, Quality Analyst, Ms. Tenzin Gaiphel, event coordinator and 9 support staff from Dharamsala visited Delhi.
Dr. Tsewang Tamdin; Dr. Tenzin Deche Kartsang, CMO of Nizamuddin Branch Clinic, including Dr. Pema Yangchen gave free Health consultations to around 890 patients according to traditional Tibetan medicine while the Tibetan Astro-Science Practitioners (TASP): Mr. Monlam Yeshi and Ms. Sonam Tsamchoe gave oral-astro consultations to 63 people during the event.
Exhibition on Tibetan Medicine and Astro-Science, panel discussions, lectures, and testimony by the patients were the main highlight of the event. A separate stall was set up for Men-Tsee-Khang products and books by and about H.H the Dalai Lama.
Dr. Sudhir K. Khandelwal, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist, Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi led the panel discussions on: “Maintaining good Mental Health” and “Lifestyle Disorders”. The other panelists included Dr. Tenzin Deche Kartsang; Dr. Tenzin Norbu, CMO Rohini Branch clinic; Dr. Chime Dolkar, Resident Doctor of Nizamuddin Branch Clinic, and TASP Mr. Monlam Yeshi.
A series of Lectures were given by the Men-Tsee-Khang panelists and Dr. Penpa Dhondup, Lajpat Nagar Branch Clinic on success of Tibetan medicine in treating cancer, psoriasis and gastric ulcer. Two patients’ testified on how traditional Tibetan medicine benefitted them. Introduction of traditional Tibetan medicine, diet and lifestyle for prevention and cure, approaches to palliative care in Tibetan medicine, and know yourself: The seven psychosomatic constituents were some of the topics presented. The Astro-Science Practitioners spoke on introduction of Tibetan Astro-Science and Tibetan almanac (Lotho) and its uses in our daily life. Ms. Tsering Wangmo, Quality Analyst spoke on total quality management of herbal products and Over-the-Counter Medicine of Men-Tsee-Khang.
After each talk, people were welcomed to ask questions regarding Tibetan medicine and Astro-Science. There were volunteers, who testified how Tibetan medicine helped them cure their illness and prolonged their life span. A daughter volunteered to testify on behalf of her mother who was diagnosed with cancer. Western medical treatment gave her only 6 months to live. In search of alternative treatment, she came to Men-Tsee-Khang, Dharamsala for treatment. After 2 months treatment, they were overjoyed to see the drastic improvement in her health report and cancer spots. It has been more than a year and her mother is living a healthy life. The daughter thanked Men-Tsee-Khang for preserving and promoting the rich traditional Tibetan medicine.
To support the initiatives of Men-Tsee-Khang, 13 new people subscribed for FOM (Friends of Men-Tsee-Khang).
